NOW AVAILABLE IN ALDI STORES ACROSS SCOTLAND

We're enjoying the sweet taste of success with Aldi

A selection of naturally sweetened sodas from Edinburgh-based drinks company Bon Accord have gone on sale in Scottish Aldi stores for this first time as part of the supermarket’s search for Scotland’s Next Top Product.

Bon Accord was one of eight Scottish suppliers to win Specialbuy listings with Aldi as part of last year’s competition. Four of Bon Accord’s most popular flavoured sodas are now available from Aldi’s 96 Scottish stores, including Cream Soda, Rhubarb Soda, Pink Grapefruit Soda, and Ginger Beer (£1.29, 275ml), while stocks last.

Founded in Arbroath in 1903 under the name Robb Brothers, Bon Accord was a much-loved brand across Scotland for almost 100 years, renowned for their iconic orange lorries which delivered a range of drinks to homes across the country until the company closed its operations in 2000. After 16 years, the Great-Great-Granddaughter of one of its founders reimagined the brand and brought it back with a natural twist, developing a range of sodas that have been sweetened with coconut nectar and real fruit juice.

Karen Knowles, Founder and Director of Bon Accord, said: “I am immensely proud that Bon Accord was chosen as one of Aldi’s Next Top Product winners and our products will now be available to pick up from every Aldi store in Scotland. Free from refined sugar or artificial sweeteners, our sodas are a healthy alternative for your next juice fix. We are incredibly passionate about our products and we can’t wait for Aldi customers to try them.”

Aldi is committed to increasing its range of Scottish products to over 500 in the next two years, currently stocking over 450 products sourced from 90 local suppliers.

Graham Nicolson, Group Buying Director, Aldi Scotland, said: “I very much enjoyed judging Aldi’s Next Top Product, and my congratulations to Karen and the team at Bon Accord. Our competition demonstrates Aldi’s commitment to investing in and supporting local suppliers, and I'm confident our customers will enjoy these great tasting, healthy sodas.”

The range of Specialbuy Bon Accord drinks and all other Next Top Product winners will be available while stocks last from all 96 Scottish Aldi stores from today (Thursday 14th January). You can find your nearest Aldi store here.

Notes to the Editor:

Bon Accord is a Scottish family soft drinks company, originally set up in 1903 by the current owner's Great-Great-Grandfather Karen Knowles. The famous glass bottles were a familiar sight in homes and on street doorsteps for generations. For over 100 years Bon Accord found a place in the hearts of the nation before operations closed in 2000.

Back after 16 years, our drinks are made with high quality ingredients and are all 100% naturally sweetened with coconut nectar and fruit juice, with no refined sugar or artificial sweeteners. Our range includes old favourites like Bona-Cola and Cream Soda as well as reimagined and innovative flavours for today like the delicious Rhubarb Soda and Salted Pink Grapefruit Soda.
